Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization?
Yes, we are a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization and donations are fully tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Don't you get money from taxpayers? Why do you need additional funding?
The library is partially funded through taxpayers of the Philipstown and Haldane communities. These funds are used solely to operate the library.
What is planned giving?
Planned giving enables philanthropic individuals to make gifts to charitable organizations. Some planned gifts provide life-long income to the donor. Other gift plans use estate and tax planning to provide for charity and heirs in ways that maximize the gift and/or minimize its impact on the donor’s estate. We would be happy to talk to you about planning a gift to the Butterfield Library.
Can I purchase a book in someone's honor?
Yes, just send a check, the book title or subject and whom you would like to honor.
We will then purchase the book, place a book plaque inside, and send a letter acknowledging your gift to the family.
